B.Sc., Memorial University of Newfoundland
Supervisor: Dr. Duncan McIlroy
Jillian completed her B.Sc. (Hons) at Memorial University of Newfoundland. Her undergraduate thesis involved the three dimensional morphological characterization of the trace fossil Phoebichnus trochoides.
Towards the end of the project advances were made that opened up new questions about the trace fossil that were beyond the scope of the honors thesis. These new discoveries required more data to be collected and a need for Phoebichnus to be formally re-described from its type locality to include this new information. Jillian’s M.Sc. project will continue work on this project to build upon the research. The additional information and models of Phoebichnus trochoides from this M.Sc. project will contribute to the full morphological characterization of the trace fossil. Jillian will also be working with the trace fossil Palaeophycus heberti.
